[clickity clackity]

Procrastination is my favorite sport.

Golly, I wish I was better at writing things in here, but frankly, I just have nothing exciting to say.

Y'all know where to find me.
I'll be vlogging.
and semi-cyberstalking.

Just kidding...

Tuesday

[the importance of Cornflakes]

Do you remember when you were a child and your mom forced you to go to the grocery store, and she would wind you through these crazy endless aisles of brightly colored advertisements? You'd be stuck in a cart or have your hand plastered to the side, be scolded for so much as thinking of touching anything that wasn't attached to your person, and be in utter shambles for the denial of a box of Honeycombs or Cap'n Crunch.
Oh sweet god, how I loved cereal.
Really the only thing I can think about lately is nostalgia. Usually this topic only ever surfaces when my friends and I are drunk beyond functioning and we have a debate on our favorite Power Ranger or Transformer. The things that make us have those nostalgic feelings. I'm a product of the late 80's, I missed the epic wear of that decade, but I managed to catch most of their cartoons. Nothing makes me miss being a kid more than cartoons. [Oh, also, being able to run without virtually shriveling up into a ball of dehydrated, wheezing body fat, I miss that too.] I remember many of my favorite childhood cartoons, it's a rather long list which contains the likes of The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles [Donatello is the best], Sailormoon [Sailor Mercury is the best], Garfield, Hey Arnold! and Xmen.
I remember running upstairs to be the child in charge of the remote control at 7:00am on a Saturday morning and tuning into my grand four hour lounge in front of the television. "1 saturday morning" on ABC, that was a glorious time.
This post really has no point. I just really miss being excited by things like that. Now, I'm being asked that I [read: forced to] become a responsible adult, which requires me to go to college and gain a career that will pay my bills, not spend my money on stuffed plush Pokemon and now implement the tools that my cartoons once illustrated in a future I thought would never come. I, to this day, still spend many hours lounged infront of my netflix account watching whatever "historic" cartoon they currently have available, and even then I find new cartoons that I absolutely fall in love with [Avatar: the last air bender was way too short for my liking]. I still buy videogames and relish my amazing Tetris-capable thumbs.
I feel like my childhood skills are moot these days. I mean, I could beat the first 3 levels of Yoshi's Cookie with my eyes closed. If I was asked to be the stupid damn Pink Ranger, I could damn well be her, moves and all. I can tell you all of the Sailorscouts and all of the original 150 Pokemon. I could tell you the intricate story behind Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, but now it would appear that children are all grown up before they have a chance to be a child.
I hope my children grow up knowing the wonders of cartoons. I hope they can own the excitement of eating an entire box of cereal just to get to the prize at the bottom. I demand that my children are able to recite the names of all the characters in each Disney movie. It's not the responsibilities of life I want my children to have engraved into their souls, I want the memories of their childhood to forever be etched into their hearts to remind them as they get older of the important things in life. That is, being alive, laughing, dreaming and imagining.

Wednesday

[jaunty adventures]

So I recently decided to try out Ubuntu. I made this choice based solely on the fact that I am tired of my computer running like it is made out of a box of Cherrio's.
I am now a proud owner of Ubuntu's 10.4 Jaunty OS and so far I love it. Everything runs a lot smoother, my computer isn't attacking itself with random things, my fan only makes annoying sounds every once in a while and I no longer want to throw it off a very tall cliff.
I am having a few issues with compatibility, but I'm not to worried about it. I'm a world class google-rer. I figured out how to get around some issues, like using my Ipod [i am in love with rhythmbox music player; just throwing that out there], making my webcam and mic useable again [not sure how I feel about the "Cheese" application, also, my microphone is still....umm...not quite right]. I'm not sure what else is "broken" as I haven't really gotten around to fiddling with everything yet, but for the most part I can say, I am a big fan of this OS.
Jaunty Jackalope and I are good friends as of today. We'll see what new problems arise as of tomorrow. And with that, I bid you a fantastic Wednesday.

Sunday

[red sky]

There is something here tonight.
Present.
I can feel it in my bones.

I recently lost a cousin. A young cousin full of promise, bravery and strength. He was killed tragically in an accident. Our community is alive in sorrow.

I can feel it in the wind. It blows strong and heavy. I feel like I can feel him blowing through me. The wind holds not an ounce of bitter cold. A dense, warm wind, like a welcoming hug from a comforting friend.

I hear the drumming in the distance. Metonic. The shrill screams and song of the men around the drum. Thum-thump, thum-thump. Brings back many memories.

"Ah-heeeyyyy-oooooooh. At-lee-cous-wee-wee-noooooooon-ta, at-lee-cous-wa-ken-tam-poe." We would pray. Call on the Creator to watch us through the day and keep us safe.

I only ask of Him, God, Creator, Spirit, - whomever, to watch over my cousins, watch over my families, and to hold all of us who are hurting. To keep His arms open for him when he arrives.

The wind blows hard, a hard gentle breeze, that pushes the trees aside with great force, but holds each of us tenderly in it's wake.

♥ Lim lim't cousin. Thank you.
Life is fragile.

Friday

[hail the sunshine]

SO.

For the past few days I have been trying out this thing.
Thing...life style choice? No, I didn't switch teams [although, it wouldn't really be switching teams, more just...declaring one....er....]. Just changing my attitude towards life.
Things seem brighter.

Maybe that's because I won't be so stressed out about money soon. Or maybe it's because I have decided to be less clingy. Or maybe it's because my brother's girlfriend wasn't here for the last few days. Whatever it is, it's working, and I am loving the outcome. Everything just feels better inside. I am stepping out of my shy bubble [WHICH IS LIKE THE DUMBEST BUBBLE EVER.] and slowly I am finding myself in a comfortable, friendly atmosphere in almost every social situation. I have so much confidence in myself when I am at work, it is insane. I never have confidence, with anything I do, ever. I appear to have an abundance of it, and I like it. So...hooray for positivity.

On another note; a pet peeve of mine.
I say I can do something, and then after thinking about it, come to the realisation that I can't actually do this thing that I thought I could do. For example; let's just say, that a friend asked another friend to move in with her because of a bunch of completely legit reasons so that friend said yes, of course. And then, after contemplating the thought of moving out and discussing it at length with her mother, realised that she can't afford it and would really be hurting herself while she saved her friend from awkward living situations, thus having to tell her friend that she is not able to move out with her. DOESN'T THAT SUCK? Like, hypothetically suck? Yeah, it would, wouldn't it. Bahh.

Late night blog posts are the best because they don't really have to make sense. Bwhaha, I love it.

In other news, I have gained 5 pounds working at this cafe. I have only worked there for a week. Damn bannock. There is a piece upstairs in the kitchen calling out to me, I can hear it. I swear if I eat another piece of bannock I'm going to tear at the seams.

A moth just landed on my arm and crawled all around.
Night blogging is a horrible idea, I forgot moths were attracted to light.

I guess that means bed now.
But um, I like you.
Good night.♥

Wednesday

[a note to self]

What is holding you back from allowing your dreams to become a reality?

Nothing but fear.

Fear of rejection. Fear of failing. Fear of what others will say, or what they will think. Fear of letting them win. Fear of being different. Fear of conforming. Fear of your dreams being too big. Fear of your dreams being too small. Fear of not knowing any better. Fear of knowing all too well.

Dreams are what makes us strive to be the people we want to be. By dreaming big we give ourselves the room to figure ourselves out while we reach high. If we give in to our fears, we deny ourselves the privilage of seeing what could be.

Allow yourself the room to expand. Allow yourself the rejection. Allow yourself the grace to learn from mistakes and missed opportunities. Allow yourself the time to look back on your life and say "I did everything I wanted to do."

Today we start being the girl we have always wanted to be.
No matter how redonks she turns out to be.

Hold on to your hats folks, this could get messy.
