Wednesday

[jaunty adventures]

So I recently decided to try out Ubuntu. I made this choice based solely on the fact that I am tired of my computer running like it is made out of a box of Cherrio's.
I am now a proud owner of Ubuntu's 10.4 Jaunty OS and so far I love it. Everything runs a lot smoother, my computer isn't attacking itself with random things, my fan only makes annoying sounds every once in a while and I no longer want to throw it off a very tall cliff.
I am having a few issues with compatibility, but I'm not to worried about it. I'm a world class google-rer. I figured out how to get around some issues, like using my Ipod [i am in love with rhythmbox music player; just throwing that out there], making my webcam and mic useable again [not sure how I feel about the "Cheese" application, also, my microphone is still....umm...not quite right]. I'm not sure what else is "broken" as I haven't really gotten around to fiddling with everything yet, but for the most part I can say, I am a big fan of this OS.
Jaunty Jackalope and I are good friends as of today. We'll see what new problems arise as of tomorrow. And with that, I bid you a fantastic Wednesday.

Sunday

[red sky]

There is something here tonight.
Present.
I can feel it in my bones.

I recently lost a cousin. A young cousin full of promise, bravery and strength. He was killed tragically in an accident. Our community is alive in sorrow.

I can feel it in the wind. It blows strong and heavy. I feel like I can feel him blowing through me. The wind holds not an ounce of bitter cold. A dense, warm wind, like a welcoming hug from a comforting friend.

I hear the drumming in the distance. Metonic. The shrill screams and song of the men around the drum. Thum-thump, thum-thump. Brings back many memories.

"Ah-heeeyyyy-oooooooh. At-lee-cous-wee-wee-noooooooon-ta, at-lee-cous-wa-ken-tam-poe." We would pray. Call on the Creator to watch us through the day and keep us safe.

I only ask of Him, God, Creator, Spirit, - whomever, to watch over my cousins, watch over my families, and to hold all of us who are hurting. To keep His arms open for him when he arrives.

The wind blows hard, a hard gentle breeze, that pushes the trees aside with great force, but holds each of us tenderly in it's wake.

♥ Lim lim't cousin. Thank you.
Life is fragile.

Friday

[hail the sunshine]

SO.

For the past few days I have been trying out this thing.
Thing...life style choice? No, I didn't switch teams [although, it wouldn't really be switching teams, more just...declaring one....er....]. Just changing my attitude towards life.
Things seem brighter.

Maybe that's because I won't be so stressed out about money soon. Or maybe it's because I have decided to be less clingy. Or maybe it's because my brother's girlfriend wasn't here for the last few days. Whatever it is, it's working, and I am loving the outcome. Everything just feels better inside. I am stepping out of my shy bubble [WHICH IS LIKE THE DUMBEST BUBBLE EVER.] and slowly I am finding myself in a comfortable, friendly atmosphere in almost every social situation. I have so much confidence in myself when I am at work, it is insane. I never have confidence, with anything I do, ever. I appear to have an abundance of it, and I like it. So...hooray for positivity.

On another note; a pet peeve of mine.
I say I can do something, and then after thinking about it, come to the realisation that I can't actually do this thing that I thought I could do. For example; let's just say, that a friend asked another friend to move in with her because of a bunch of completely legit reasons so that friend said yes, of course. And then, after contemplating the thought of moving out and discussing it at length with her mother, realised that she can't afford it and would really be hurting herself while she saved her friend from awkward living situations, thus having to tell her friend that she is not able to move out with her. DOESN'T THAT SUCK? Like, hypothetically suck? Yeah, it would, wouldn't it. Bahh.

Late night blog posts are the best because they don't really have to make sense. Bwhaha, I love it.

In other news, I have gained 5 pounds working at this cafe. I have only worked there for a week. Damn bannock. There is a piece upstairs in the kitchen calling out to me, I can hear it. I swear if I eat another piece of bannock I'm going to tear at the seams.

A moth just landed on my arm and crawled all around.
Night blogging is a horrible idea, I forgot moths were attracted to light.

I guess that means bed now.
But um, I like you.
Good night.♥

Wednesday

[a note to self]

What is holding you back from allowing your dreams to become a reality?

Nothing but fear.

Fear of rejection. Fear of failing. Fear of what others will say, or what they will think. Fear of letting them win. Fear of being different. Fear of conforming. Fear of your dreams being too big. Fear of your dreams being too small. Fear of not knowing any better. Fear of knowing all too well.

Dreams are what makes us strive to be the people we want to be. By dreaming big we give ourselves the room to figure ourselves out while we reach high. If we give in to our fears, we deny ourselves the privilage of seeing what could be.

Allow yourself the room to expand. Allow yourself the rejection. Allow yourself the grace to learn from mistakes and missed opportunities. Allow yourself the time to look back on your life and say "I did everything I wanted to do."

Today we start being the girl we have always wanted to be.
No matter how redonks she turns out to be.

Hold on to your hats folks, this could get messy.

Tuesday

[it's all about the journey]

Sometimes I forget what it is like to be myself.
What a horribly sad and depressing realization.
Thus, I have decided to change this.
Currently I have only three attainable goals.
♥ pay my seat-fee for school > deadline - Friday.
♥ exercise atleast three times a week.
♥ do something for me, once, every single day.

That last one is actually probably the hardest thing.
I seem to have forgotten what it was like to be myself in the sense that I don't remember what I like anymore. Trying to find new friends with the same interests is becoming insanely hard because I can't, for the life of me, figure out what interests I have. I feel like I am stuck in that awkward pit between middle school and high school, where I'm still trying to figure out who I want to be.
I mean I know who I am, I know where my morals lie. I know when I am wrong, and when I need to stand up for myself. I know who I would like to be, I am just not sure if the people I know are okay with me being that person.
Does this even make any sense?

I want to be a geek. I want to be loved by my friends, without judgement or cruelty, for who I am, not who I pretend I can be. I want to leave behind memories for the people that do love me, call it narcisisstic or whatever have you, but I feel like time is running far too quickly for me to accomplish all I want to before my life ends. I want to do it all. I want people to know me through my doodling, through my blogging or vlogging, or through my pixels on their screens - because that is when I am truely me. That is when I don't feel ashamed to say the things I want to say, or write the things I want to write.
How pathetic...living vicariously through binary coding and a series of flashing lights. Now that is living.

My hopes are that through these actions, I will become less shy. That magically, through me pressing these keys or projecting my voice through speakers, I will build my self confidence so I won't need to hide behind a screen. One day, the only binary coding I will need to hide behind, are the numbers eched into my skin.

So...coming back together now. The last goal on my list "to do something, everyday, for me." This includes:
♥ making youtube videos
♥ writing on my blogger account
♥ doodling for my comic
♥ going on a geocaching adventure
♥ going on a random adventure
♥ baking / cooking
♥ curling up with my cats and Neil Gaiman
♥ watching way too much Food Network
♥ dreaming about meeting Gordon Ramsay
♥ hanging out on Blogtv
♥ cloud watching with Vix
♥ stargazing with Brad

...because these are the things that bring me joy.

And so I ask of you - what brings you joy? What are the top five things that you can do for yourself that would completely make your day?

It's hard for me to do...I always feel so selfish taking the time to do these things for myself but it is a necessity. Like taking birth control.
It just ain't an option.

Anyways, hopefully the next entry isn't as horribly depressing and non-sense making as this one.
Okay, love you.
